Day 1: Transfer to Airport - Santa Cruz Island - Highlands - Charles Darwin Station

In the morning you arrive on Baltra Island. Your guide will already be waiting at Baltra airport and take you to Santa Cruz Island. Enjoy lunch at a local farm in the highlands, followed by the observation of giant turtles in the wild. Then continue to the port in Puerto Ayora to check into the hotel. In the afternoon, visit the Charles Darwin Station, where scientists from all over the world meet and work together in environmental projects such as water analysis, animal protection, effects of tourism on the nature etc. Here you can visit the turtle rearing station, where the animals are raised before being released into nature. Land iguanas can be observed here too. Overnight stay in Puerto Ayora.

Day 2: Speed boat toIsabela Island – Wetlands -  LasTintoreras We will pick you up in the morning from the hotel and accompany you to the port, where you will take the public speed boat to Isabela Island. Upon arrival you will be welcomed by a naturalist guide, who will take you the the wetlands, where you can visit a flamingo lagoon and the giant tortoise breeding station. After lunch, you will visit the Tintoreras islet for a short hike and snorkeling. The Tintoreras tour will be conducted in company of other visitors (max. 16 passengers per boat). You can discover Humboldt penguins, marine iguanas, sea lions and sharks, which are resting in the natural channels that were formed by lava flows. Afterwards you can snorkel in the turquoise water and spot different fish, sea turtles, rays and penguins. The evening is at your leisure. For dinner, we recommend “Isabela Grill” for the meat lovers, “Iguana Point” which is found at the beachfront or “El Faro” restaurant in the center.

Day 3: Isabela Island - Sierra Negra volcano

Today the Sierra Negra volcano is on your agenda. You can walk through spectacular lava landscapes and have views of the northern volcanoes of Isabela and Fernandina Island. The hike to the Sierra Negra Volcano and the Volcano Chico has a distance of 16 kilometers and a duration of about 6 hours and will take place together with other visitors. But the views are definitely worth the effort. You will see the second largest volcanic crater in the world and you will explore different vegetation zones. You will receive a lunch box for the hike. In the afternoon you will return to Santa Cruz Island by speed boat. Overnight stay on Santa Cruz Island.

Day 4: Day at leisure

Today you don't have any planned activities. Feel free to hike to Tortuga Bay, take a stroll in peaceful Puerto Ayora town, go on a tour to visit hidden beaches or rent a bike to explore the highlands on your own.It's up to you! Check out our add-on activities, they are interesting options as well (for example, day trips to uninhabited islands such as Bartolomé, Seymour, Santa Fé, Plazas or Floreana.

Day 5: Airport of Baltra Island

If there is enough free time until your transfer to the airport, we suggest that you visit the Charles Darwin Station (free entrance), Tortuga Bay or do some souvenir shopping. Your driver will pick you up at your hotel and take you to the Itabaca Channel, which you will cross on a ferry. For the last part of your trip to the airport, you will take the public shuttle bus. Your driver will accompany you until the departure area where your program ends with your return flight to the mainland.

The itinerary of the Galapagos tour can be changed by the guide or the boat captain due to security reasons as well as by the national park administration due to changing national park rules. Nevertheless the security and the interest of the passengers will always have first priority.
